Terms of Use

These terms are an agreement between you and Human Beyond LLC, and they apply from the moment you open the site. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle information and is part of them.

If we ever ship something on different terms, it will say so. A third-party service we link to runs on its own.

Read it, link to it, quote it, translate a passage, send it to a colleague, use it in your own work and thinking. Attribution and a link back are all we ask.

Machines may do the same. Search engines, answer engines, AI assistants, and assistive technology are welcome to index this site, retrieve from it, summarize it, and quote it with attribution — our robots.txt says the same thing, and it is the more specific of the two. A site arguing that agents will act on the world should not object to agents reading it.

The essays, concepts, visual system, code, and branding belong to Human Beyond LLC or their respective owners. Beyond the uses above, nothing is licensed by implication, and the Human Beyond name may not be used to suggest that we endorse anyone.

• Do not republish the site, or a substantial part of it, as a substitute for it — a competing publication, a repackaged collection, or a product whose value is mostly our writing.
• Do not strip attribution or ownership notices.
• Do not attack the site, break it, or probe it for vulnerabilities without written permission.
• Do not claim a connection to Human Beyond that does not exist.

It stays yours. You give us only what we need in order to receive it, read it, answer it, and keep the record of the conversation. Please do not send confidential material you are not free to share.

The site holds essays, analysis, and opinion about technology, business, and the future of human-machine systems. It can be incomplete, go out of date, or make predictions that do not happen.

It is not professional advice and it guarantees nothing. Check anything important yourself before you act on it. The services the site depends on may change or stop working, and we may change or take down any part of the site.

To the maximum extent the law allows, the site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind — express, implied, or statutory — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Where a jurisdiction does not allow that, it applies as far as it is allowed.

To the maximum extent the law allows, Human Beyond is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or opportunities connected with the site. Where liability cannot lawfully be limited, this does not apply.

Florida law governs, and disputes belong to the state or federal courts in Broward County, Florida. If a provision cannot be enforced, the rest still stands. If these terms change, the new version appears here with a new date.
